“I am extremely proud of the Norfolk policing family” – PCC response to HMIC report on Norfolk Constabulary
Norfolk Police has been judged one of the top performing forces in the country by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary.
Responding to the report Stephen Bett, Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk, said: “I have said time and time again that Norfolk has one of the very best police forces in the country – and now it’s official. This is a quite simply fantastic report and I hope the people of Norfolk take great heart from the fact they have a constabulary performing at the very highest level. There is not one area the inspectors looked at that they found to require improvement or they thought was inadequate. In all areas the force was found to be either good or outstanding, although there will be no room for complacency as there are always lessons to be learned.
“It is incredibly reassuring to read the comments from Her Majesty’s Inspector, Zoe Billingham, congratulating our constabulary on its excellent performance, praising its commitment to neighbourhood policing and highlighting its outstanding performance in reducing costs while maintaining the services it provides to the public. Strong leadership, well-embedded ethics and a focus on protecting the most vulnerable members of our communities are also singled out for serious praise.
“I must also thank the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner which, through its prudent strategic and financial planning and tough monitoring and scrutiny of the force, has laid strong foundations for the future, for the betterment of the Norfolk taxpayer and safety of the county.
“This report is the result of a great deal of hard work and commitment and I am extremely proud of every single member of the Norfolk Constabulary family. I thank them all.”
