Stephen Bett was directly-elected as the first Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Norfolk on 15 November 2012, standing as an Independent candidate.
The functions PCCs must carry out by law are largely governed by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act (2011), the Police Act (1996 and 2011 amendment), and other legislation.
The main responsibility of PCCs is to make sure the area in which they are elected has an efficient and effective police force.
